Happy late birthday to me!
2003-04-08 - 4:09 a.m.

Sorry everybody. I was out of town from Wednesday to Sunday. I guess I should have mentioned it, but I didn't even know until Tuesday night.

Justin was in from Colorado. He's a fun guy, and I had a good time hanging out with him for the week. That's why I had to go to Huntington Wed. He was supposed to catch his train back home then, but the ticket said it was the next day, and when we got there, they said the train wasn't until the day after that. I tell you, leaving him at the train on Friday was really hard. But that's how things go, I guess.

I did get to see a Funkfeel show that night at McGettigans. Apparently the band has a weekly gig there. Anyway, they were amazing. I love seeing them play, because every time I see them, they've gotten so much better. They played a bunch of songs I've never heard from them before, and they were all incredible. I just can't say enough about them. They're a group of the best guys and finest musicians I've ever met.

So my birthday was Sunday. I'm 20 now. It's strange, because I look around at the things I'm doing, and I think about how they were fine while I was a teen, but now that I'm 20, they aren't. It's upsetting because I know that it doesn't make any sense, but I can't shake the feeling. It's that, "go out and spread your wings," feeling. I need to get back to Marshall.

Anyway, I didn't get a large number of presents, but the ones I did get rock. While in H-ton, I got myself a used copy of Hunter: the Reckoning. Imagine that Resident Evil and Gauntlet had a kid. That kid is Hunter. It may be the best co-op multiplayer game I've come across. Then, once I got home, I found my present from Mom: new bag of socks (a birthday staple), Amélie (an incredible movie), and The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker. This game is sooo amazing. It's so amazing! How amazing is it? So. Amazing, that is.

Before you say anythig about the cell-shading, just play the game. It's beautiful. And everything is so awesome. The story, I would guess, takes place after and to the side of The Ocarina of Time, putting it just before Link to the Past. [As an aside, I'd like to point out just how big of a dork I feel like for knowing the Zelda Timeline. I feel like a big dork.] For those not in the know, The Windwaker is actually a conductor's baton. I've already said a bunch of times that I love the musical aspect of the newer Zelda games, and this latest wrinkle is one of the coolest, most imaginative things I can think of.

But that's not all! I also went and spent some of my bank money and got one of those DVD / surround sound systems. I, being the audiophile that I am, looove this thing. And I got it $80 off the normal price, too. There's not as much to say about it as there is the games, because this is really just a set of speakers, but it's great, and I love it.

Anyway, thanks to all of you that signed the guestbook. I appreciate it. Keep up the good work.

Now if you'll excuse me, me and my talking, red lion boat have a sister to save.

Later.
